Cincinnati Marlins History

The Cincinnati Marlins began their journey in 1961, starting with a selection of 89 girls in the inaugural year. The following year, 77 boys joined the team. In 1969, Keating Natatorium was constructed and became home to the Cincinnati Marlins.

Since 1968, the Marlins have propelled 18 swimmers onto the U.S. Olympic Team. Marlins team members have shattered numerous National and World Records, leaving an indelible mark on the swimming world. The Marlins’ influence extends beyond our athletes; 6 former Marlins coaches have been named to Olympic Coaching Staffs.

The Marlins have triumphed in over 30 Summer and Winter State Age Group Championships, showcasing their dominance in regional competitions. They have been named Junior National Team Champions multiple times including 1983, 1984, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000, a testament to their uncommon excellence in developing age group athletes.
